HaysMac names Jack Williams as director to boost R&D tax advisory

HaysMac has promoted Jack Williams to director as it expands its research and development (R&D) tax and advisory capability.

Williams specialises in R&D tax relief. He advises high-growth businesses on how to maximise “the value of their investment in innovation”, the company said in a statement.

According to HaysMac, Williams’ work includes identifying qualifying R&D activity, helping clients secure returns on R&D spend, and ensuring claims can withstand scrutiny from HMRC and investors during transactions.

His clients span sectors including creative, media and technology, fintech and life sciences.

HaysMac said Williams’ promotion reflects his contribution as well as the company’s continued investment in advisory services to support innovative businesses.

Commenting on the promotion, Williams said: “I am incredibly proud to step into this role at HaysMac. Since joining the firm last year, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of innovative, fast-growth businesses, helping them obtain the well-deserved return on their R&D investment and translate that into something meaningful, whether that is fuelling further innovation, supporting growth or obtaining their next round of funding.

“I am excited to continue working closely with our clients as they evolve and to contribute further to the development of our R&D and tax advisory offerings.”

HaysMac managing partner Natasha Frangos said: “Jack’s promotion reflects our continued focus on developing our people and investing in areas where clients need the most support, whilst recognising Jack’s transformative impact on our R&D team and client offering.

“As businesses look to maximise returns on innovation while navigating increased scrutiny, high-quality, commercially focused advice is more important than ever.”

The announcement follows the appointment of Gary De Souza as director of HaysMac’s media, marketing and advertising sector team.

HaysMac recently completed acquisitions aimed at strengthening its advisory and tax offering. The company acquired corporate finance business Green Square to build its deal advisory services, and purchased Moore DM’s US Tax team to expand its international tax compliance and private client tax capabilities.
